The Dutch Fork Half Runner comes to us from Dutch Fork, South Carolina via Glenn Campbell. He had been searching for them for ten years. Leisha Huffstelter, president of the Dutch ForkHistorical Society contacted Glenn after he reached out to the historical society. She writes.."the beans arrived in the year of 1752 with the German immigrants into Dutch Fork (encompassing the counties of Lexington, Newberry and Richland). The beans had been found in 1997 in a freezer in the the Lindler household in a Metamucil jar, well preserved and she and her family (as well as other Dutch Fork oldtimers) grow them to this day. We love stories like these and appreciate seedy people, like Glenn Campbell who want to see the beans preserved!
